2022 has been for Gangrened the end of a era, with a perfect ending, and the beginning of a really exciting new one. Giving as a result already in July “Turbulent Times” a digital single release extracted from a recorded jam / improvisation session that we did in our second rehersal with this new line up. And now in 2023 we are having a physical release of this whole piece of music coming out next spring through the Swedish label @cloudedmindrecords in CD in a limited edition of 33 copies and in digital platforms under the name of “Ambient doom dream”. The result overall is an exercise of inmersion of Gangrened’s heavy sound into the more dreamy 90s. More specifics about this later.

Our gig next 18th May in Tampere with @nadjaluv and more in the Dro)))ne over Tampere festival will be the record release gig for this. But we have to say this is not Gangrened’s second album, this is the release of a casual improvised jam of a specific moment that turned out great as a solid musical piece. Gangrened’s second album is going to be something more ambicious. But yes the rehersals for the gig and the actual gig will be part of the preparations for Gangrened’s second album. We are going to work on half conducted half improvised pieces, more abstract and experimental than ever before, to play in the gig. Maybe in summer we can totally polish and record what we are going to work on in the next months, for a second album of Gangrened.

At this moment Jon lives in Tampere and Gangrened’s rehersal room is in Tampere where he’s digging on his stereo guitar set up, while Olli is studying electronic music production in Paimio. Soon we start rehersals in Tampere with Jon on guitars and Olli on synth, sampler, beats, noises, electronics, etc,… Clearly we have adopted the improvisation as a way to create sound/music and this is something Jon has been since 2006 into and now its being applied to Gangrened. Will see where this path of trascending the genres of Sludge and Doom take us.
